I want good green jobs!
The 2011 Good Jobs, Green Jobs National Conference is just around the corner, and the Sierra Club is determined that the youth voice will be heard. After all, it is youth who will hold these jobs, who have the most to gain from a green economy. At the conference, the youth of today will influence conversations that may shape their tomorrow.
Held from February 7-10th in Washington, DC, the conference will bring together thousands of environmental and union leaders to share ideas and strategies for building a green economy. Last year, BBTO hosted over seventy-five youth delegates, as well as a successful “Youth in the Great Outdoors” panel (click to watch the video!).
This year, BBTO is again organizing a strong youth presence at the Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference. We are partnering with other Sierra Club campaigns and programs to ensure a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and regions are represented. These delegates will not only attend the conference, but will have the opportunity to participate. This is especially true for BBTO’s 2011 workshop, “Sowing the Seeds for a Greener Future”, which includes a youth leader along with experts from the service, environment, business and government sectors.
We all have a role to play in creating a greener future. Sierra Club couldn’t be prouder to support these passionate young leaders as they embrace their role and begin making a difference today.
