The CLUB ought to form a POWERFUL TEAM of scientific and environmental orgs/institutions to effectively and quickly EDUCATE THE AMERICAN PUBLIC on the science surrounding the climate crisis, and what policies must be put in place to confront it.
The CLUB must NOT continue to act ALONE in this. Thanks. Bob Coates

Hi Allison--Thanks for the great YouTube interview and enthusiasm for all that the Sierra Club is capable of.

I work on many issues and am a big fan of the Sierra Club, but I especially want to thank the Club for the amazing work of the coal team. If we don't address climate change--and do it very quickly, then not much else will matter!

The Sierra Club has shown spectacular leadership on the coal issue under Bruce Nilles and Aaron Isherwood and their entire team.

Now let's work together to trade out this country's coal plants and to repower our country with our truly indigenous resources which are the wind, solar, geothermal and efficiency resources and thereby create the infrastructure that will keep the lights and computers and manufacturing and research equipment etc. all running in the 21st century!

If we don't act quickly we run the risk of using all the accessible coal just to boil water before we've made the steel and glass needed to build the wind and solar farms that will run our country in this century.

We don't actually have the much vaunted "200 year supply of coal" that we've heard so much about from the coal industry. Rather the USGS tells us that only a small fraction of that coal is economically accessible--probably in the range of a 10-20 year supply. This is a looming crisis that not many people understand. Hopefully the Sierra Club can play a key role in helping our country understand that, in addition to the need to address climate change, time is short with respect to the supply of fossil fuels that we are so extremely dependent on!

Thanks again for taking leadership in the Club!
