After each election cycle the Sierra Club Political Team reviews and updates the SCPT Political Compliance Guidelines. We welcome your comments and suggestions about clarifications or additions that should be made in the 2009 revision. While we have tried to keep a record of questions and problems that came up during the 2007-08 election cycle, it won't hurt to remind us of areas of confusion or problems that you ran into.
The Compliance Guidelines provide the national framework for Sierra Club participation in express advocacy to support or oppose candidates for office -- i.e., endorsing individual candidates, telling Club members and the general public to vote for specific candidates, raising money from Club members for "separate segregated funds" (more commonly known as PAC accounts), and making direct and in-kind contributions from those funds to individual candidates' campaigns.
We appreciate your input and participation in the Club's political program. Please post your comments here.

Rather a good take on this. I can only spend so much time reading blogs therefore it was worthwhile to come across this article.
