Clean energy news round-up
On the heels of Eliza's great post from last Thursday is this latest news from MSNBC and the Sacramento Business Journal: Solar power companies looking abroad as sun sets on tax credits.
Quote of note from the article:
"Everybody's making contingency plans," said Steve Kircher, chief executive officer of Solar Power Inc. in Roseville. "I think you're going to see cutbacks and layoffs in the construction industry. We're not out soliciting new business."
Meanwhile, over at USA Today, we've got a good story on an oilman who's seeing a better future in wind power. T. Boone Pickens thinks energy policy should be the priority for the presidential hopefuls, noting,
Finding solutions to other major issues, including health care, are important, he concedes. But "If you don't solve the energy problem, it's going to break us before we even get to solving health care and some of these other important issues."
Pickens has had some troublesome positions in the past, but it's still possible to work with those with whom you don't agree on everything.

Its good that T. Boone Pickens is pushing for wind power, but along with that he is pushing for CNG cars (so that he can make money). The only thing I could find on comparisons for Natural Gas cars vs. hybrid cars and gasoline powered cars is that CNG cars have only 20% fewer carbon emissions than gasoline cars and higher carbon emissions than hybrid cars. So should we really be going along with his plan if thats the case??
