BP's main concern is not ending the oil blowout, its salvaging the oil. The pipe could have easily been pinched shut by a directed underground explosion a few feet away but that would have meant a new hole would have had to be drilled. They are going to save the present drill hole if it means coating the gulf with oil all the way from Florida to the Yucatan Penninsula. Again, they could have cut off the oil a month ago but it would have mean losing the drill hole.

OK, HERE'S MY SOLUTION TO PLUGGING THE OIL LEAK IN THE GULF: I'm sure many people are aware of PFD's (personal floatation devices), the ones that automatically inflate when a cord is pulled, some are detinated automatically when a person falls in water, well shoot a few of those in the pipe, they will inflate and seal it off long enough to cap the well. What are your thoughts on that?
