Did you hear? Climate change is manageable! Hurray! We can all go home now.
Okay, okay. Pardon the sarcasm. But how else can anyone respond to this reported comment by Exxon's CEO, who called climate change "manageable"?
Bloomberg reported the quote Wednesday from the Council on Foreign Relations, where the Exxon executive added that scientific climate models aren't accurate and "'more competent' models are needed." (Here's more on why that "models aren't reliable" mantra is bogus.)
Let's get back to the facts. The climate doesn't really care what Exxon thinks. Evidence keeps piling up -- sea level is rising while bizarre weather and massive fires are gradually becoming the norm.
Here's another fact: Sometimes Big Oil CEOs say silly things.
And another fact: Exxon made $9.5 billion in the first quarter of 2012 alone. So maybe, just maybe, this guy wasn't exactly being genuine. What do you think?
