New Do-It-Yourself Advertising Campaign Lets Americans Speak Out Against Big Polluters
On Tuesday, Sierra Club launched “Big Polluters, Bad Politics,” an interactive online platform that provides Americans the chance to speak out against the corrosive influence of big polluters in this election. The website allows voters to easily create their own humorous political ads and share them with their friends and social networks, giving them a voice to counter the deluge of ads paid for by Big Oil and Big Coal companies.
With big polluters working overtime this election, curbing their influence has never been more important. On top of the $150 million the fossil fuel industry has already spent smearing clean energy and pushing dirty energy, billionaire oil tycoons David and Charles Koch have announced plans to spend over $400 million this election.
The “Big Polluters, Bad Politics” website features a library of images and an array of fun facts about Romney’s energy policy. Users can enter their own text to create an ad and enter to win a PUBLIC bicycle. Sierra Club will also feature the most popular ad on their Facebook page.
