Half of all coal-fired electricity generating units in Wisconsin are currently under some form of legal challenge or scrutiny, thanks to the Sierra Club. We continued our fight by filing suit against Wisconsin Power & Light Company for modifying its Nelson Dewey and Columbia power plants without installing pollution controls. This suit is the latest in a string of legal actions we’ve taken against existing coal plants in the state. These moves have garnered significant attention, and already several Wisconsin plants and boilers are getting off of coal. For this state, a true coal-to-green energy transformation has begun.
