Welcome!

"The Green Life" was launched in the November/December 2005 issue of Sierra magazine as a place to showcase trendsetting people, cool products, and empowering ideas. Quickly we saw that there was too much happening, too fast, to limit our coverage to a few bimonthly pages, and thus this blog was born.

Sierra's January/February 2005 green lifestyle issue When we devoted our January/February 2005 issue to the burgeoning green-lifestyle movement, we saw there was immense interest in earth-friendly options for living well. What we wear, where we live, how we get around, and how we spend our money affects not only our own quality of life, but the viability of our environment. Fortunately, style and sustainability increasingly go hand in hand, reaffirming our belief that the best things in life are green.

What's your favorite green product? What ideas have made your life a little easier and the earth a little better? Share your raves, rants, tips, and questions with other readers and with us.

Explore, enjoy, and protect the planet,

When going out to eat, bring your own container for leftovers, less waste and it doesn't cost any thing.

Wondered if Jennifer looked at Univ. of Idaho. Idaho's gone entirely to non-fossil biomass combustion for steam and air cond.

I am looking for some support from different groups/industries to attend a roundtable discussion on Green Transportation in my local cities, IE Everett/Seattle/Bellevue. I am setting up a meeting with Rick Larsen my Congressman and Kenworth about starting a strictly green trucking company for local delivery and construction.

Please reply.
Thanks

You may be interested to know that I have started a blog where readers can post questions (as comments) about how to make their wedding - or other celebration - greener, and I will answer to the best of my ability!

This is based on my latest book, "How To Get Married In Green," which will be available in the next couple of weeks from Amazon.com.

The blog is here:

I love your blog! I work for SaveNature.Org, a non-profit and we are trying to find other great environmental blogs to be friends with. Would you be willing to add us to your links?

I'm writing about green self-storage, which is a great green tip. Hall Street Storage in Brooklyn opened this spring as the first green storage space in the country, and since then others have followed across the country.
Consumers have only to choose to store in a green, rather than a non-green space, to make a big difference-in energy, recycling, company initiatives. For more information, see:

Every year, I make reusable Christmas gift bags from inexpensive material
(this can be purchased from a craft/sewing store, or "repurposed" from
Christmas-y material around the house). Bags are easy to make in a
variety of sizes--just cut the desired size from a double-thickness piece
of material, hem the top and sew around the other three sides. Bags can
be tied with ribbon, and re-used the next year by the person you gave it
to! Plus, it makes gift-wrapping a cinch.

This is a sensitive topic for sure. Women menustrate for 35-45 years. We have disposable products available for this. Did you know there is an alternative that saves the environment, saves money and decrease your exposure to harmful chemicals, like bleach, in the disposable products?
Glad Rags is one company that makes these alternative products. The
Keeper is a menustration cup. For about $35 you have a ten year product. Reuse it, wash it, store it, wear it with so much comfort you almost forget you have your period! If that is not a comfortable option for you, they
also have soft, cotton/flannel pads and liners. Little ones to big overnight ones. For my household of 3 daughters and one mommy, this is the only alternative. My teenager has converted some of her friends. I have spread the word to my friends and almost all of them have switched to the Keeper menustration cup. If the environmental factor is not enough, think of the economic factor. $35= 10 years versus $10/month for 10 years = $1200.00.
Thank you.

We would like to advetise in your blog. We would like to place banners or we would like you to review our website & products.

If you are interested, kindly get back to us, with the pricing.

Regards,
Owen
