A Greener 2007
My eco-resolutions for the new year are to join a CSA (which will hopefully encourage me to cook at home a little more often), take back a bit of my time, and take some steps to get rid of junk mail. Some other ideas for planet-friendly pledges:
- Pick one food item that you buy regularly and switch to organic. (For more food-related resolutions, check out Mr. Green's list of "10 Ways to Eat Well.")
- Bike, walk, take transit, or carpool to work one day a week
- Dump one toxic cleaning product and switch to a healthier or homemade one
- Read more books and watch more good movies
- Figure out how to recycle something you once would have junked
- Switch to recycled paper products
- Stop prerinsing your dishes and clean out the lint filter on your dryer before every load
- Make an effort to buy locally made and fair trade products
- Go camping at least once
- Swap, freecycle, or donate any unwanted holiday gifts--and anything else that’s cluttering up your house
