How Green is Your Bracket?

You might not realize that the climate has a stake in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. But if you're a fan of a clean energy future, you can root for the 24 schools that have signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, pledging to go climate neutral. I'm sorry, but when I saw the title "How Green Is Your Bracket," I thought for sure this was an initiative to encourage people to fill out and track their brackets online, rather than printing them out in their workplaces and making copies. If you think about how many paper brackets are printed in all the offices and bars across the nation, it's likely a substantial figure. However, for the past couple years, I've filled mine out online on espn.com as part of their Tournament Challenge, where you can fill out as many entries as you want, invite your friends and co-workers to join your group so everyone can see everybody else's picks, and you can track your progress and see how you rank amongst your group. It's a great alternative to paper brackets for more reasons than one.
I was so disappointed when I went to the Green Bracket site and saw a link at the bottom that said, "click here for a printable bracket." That aspect should've occurred to the leaders of this initiative.
