Paris Hilton buying a hybrid is a headline? Does she even know how to drive?
I don't think that should buy her a pass for when she flies a private jet or rides around in a limo. Definitely not a role model... not for my daughter at least.

Unfortunately, those energy saving fluorescent lightbulbs are a hazard to those of us who suffer with lupus. Fluorescent light emits UV Rays which lupus patients must avoid as much as possible. UV Rays activate cells in our bodies which cause our damaged immune systems to become overactive and attack our own bodies (any organ is vulnerable).
We (lupus sufferers) should always wear high SPF sunblock - either alone or under makeup. We are supposed to avoid the sun when it's at its strongest between 10 am and 4 pm or take precautions - hat, sunglasses, etc. Those of us who work in offices with fluorescent light, well, even with ADA, you cannot expect your employer to go incandesent for you - even though it would be better for your health.
When we are at home however, in the interest of our health, because lupus is a serious and sometimes life-threatening chronic illness but in our own homes, it would be wiser to substitute another "green" activity or project in lieu of energy saving fluorescent light. Home needs to be a sanctuary for ill people. Saving energy only to cause a lupus care that requires medical intervention will undoubtedly use up more energy in the long run doctor's visits, hospitals, etc.
By all means be green, but be kind to yourself first.
