In the same way that Rachel Carson's Silent Spring helped book readers learn about our impact on the environment in ways most people wouldn't realize or notice, Koyaanisqatsi did that in the movie world! Not only does the movie show how our choices impact others and the environment, it gives a glimpse at how consumption, population, and technology growth are affecting us and will continue to affect us.

Comments

another excellent movie by Reggio is 'Evidence', a short 8 minute film about little kids watching a television show - Disney's Dumbo. Their expressions are stunned, stunted, as though the children are drugged. Frightening film - a discussion starter (see it on youtube)

I saw this film when it first came out about 25 years ago. Even though I haven't seen the film since, or really even talked about it. The images and message have never left and I think of it often.
