As Easy as Email
Want to make a difference while you're checking your email?
The i’m Initiative is a program that uses Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail to connect people with 10 of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes (including the Sierra Club). Every time you send a message using Windows Live Messenger or Windows Live Hotmail, after you join the i’m Initiative, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with the organization of your choice. To join the i’m Initiative, simply follow the instructions at http://im.live.com, click on Sierra Club as the cause you want to support, and start becoming part of the solution.
So what are you waiting for? With just a few simple clicks of your mouse, you can make sure that the environment benefits each time you read your email.
And if you're already a Hotmail user, you can click here and bypass the sign-up process.

Something similar to this is the Animal Rescue Site
(www.theanimalrescuesite.com). You go to the site once a day and, every time you do, food is donated to animals in shelters.

That's it, I'm unsubscribing from the Green Life - for just as many useful, valid tips there seem to be "tips" that use finger-pointing tactics and are ill-informed. And now this one - rather than directly promote non-profit eco-socio-conscious organizations and cross-platform open source software, it promotes and advocates for use of Microsoft. Sure, some of the revenue profits will go to said organizations but it is also supporting Microsoft - and I'm sick of big corporations profiting from global climate change via the guise of helping out the underdogs...

I like the idea, but I'm not going to switch to Windows Live Hotmail in order to take part in the campaign. Is there any possibility of arranging a similar commitment from Google for gmail users?
