Green Your Wedding -- Travel

Wedding_travel Getting hitched? Here's the last of five great ways to make the big day a big win for you, your guests, and the environment.

Tip #5: Make it easy for guests to carpool or ride public transit.

Even if you plan to purchase carbon offsets for your wedding, it’s a good idea to minimize travel for you and yours guests. Have your wedding in a central location so fewer people need to fly. If that isn’t an option, pick hotels and sites for your ceremony and reception that are accessible by bus or train. If the perfect site lies far from your guests' homes and away from public transit, then arrange carpools, hire a bus, or rent a van to make the trips more efficient. If anyone complains, give them a two-word reminder of why they don't want to drive home solo: open bar.
