Green Parenting Week -- Food

Girl_eating_apple_in_orchard_istockWant your kids to grow up healthy and green? This week we'll offer tips for eco-parents.

Go to the Source Don't just tell kids about the benefits of organic, local food--show them! Prepare a meal as a family (older kids can help in the kitchen while younger children set the table), then take a trip to a local farm to see where those veggies were grown. If you have a garden at home, remind your kids to ask the "experts" for tips.

Tell us what you think:  A controversial ecology class in Canandaigua, New York, teaches high school students about food production through a hands-on project: Students raise chickens for 10 weeks, then they slaughter and barbecue the birds. Would you want your child to attend this class?
