At the Doorstep of Change
Knock, knock Washington. 12,000 young activists are at your door demanding change. Last weekend, youth from across the country arrived in D.C. to push Congress and President Obama to pass bold climate and energy policies. Attendance for Power Shift 2009 was more than double that of last year's conference, drawing high school and college students from every state.
On Monday, the last day of the conference, sub-freezing temperatures didn't prevent thousands of people from protesting outside the Capitol Power Plant -- the largest act of civil disobedience against coal power in American history. Police made no arrests.
