Mapping America's Edible Landscape

Turnip For those of us who don't live on or near a farm nor have access to a farmer's market or an urban garden, keeping track of what's in season in our bioregion can be challenging. Epicurious has lightened the aspiring locavore's load. By providing an interactive seasonal ingredient map of the United States, the cooking website lets you see what's being grown in your state now -- and how to use those seasonal ingredients in the kitchen. 

Sustainable food advocates emphasize that using fresh, local ingredients makes for more than just a delicious meal; it strengthens our local economies, reduces fossil-fuel use, and allows us to develop a stronger sense of place.
