Is it Alaska Week Already?

Moose Banking off the success of Shark Week, the Discovery Channel declared this to be the inaugural Alaska Week. The producers pose the question: "Why does the U.S. state with the most land have such a small population?" and then answers it by airing a series of programs that detail the hardships of living in the Great White (American) North. Polar bears, volcanic eruptions, extreme temperatures, and prolonged darkness all make appearances.

Alaska Week is also about celebrating and sharing the beauty of the frozen wilderness. Untamed Alaska features footage of grizzly bears, ice storms, and spectacular vistas. Check out the Top 10 Alaskan Glacier Surprises for photos of and stories about the power of the slow-moving ice masses.

Also tune in tonight at 9 p.m for the highly anticipated fifth season premiere of Deadliest Catch. We hear the seas are rougher and the crabs are pinchy-er than ever!
