Judgment Day: The Senate confirmed Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court today, 68-31. Environmental organizations are applauding the appointment, encouraged by her stances in such cases as Riverkeeper, Inc. vs. EPA. Sierra Club

Rolling to D.C.: Chuck Leavell, the Rolling Stones’ keyboardist and a Georgia tree farmer, asked Congress this week to include private forests in the climate bill, citing that 1.5 million such acres are lost to development each year. Forest Foundation

Green Money: GM was awarded the largest share, almost $400 million, of the $2.4 billion Obama promised the auto industry for developing battery-powered vehicles. Much of that will go toward furthering the Chevy Volt. Los Angeles Times
