Fall Harvest Week: Farm Trips

Create a family tradition of visiting a pumpkin patch Fall officially begins with the autumnal equinox on September 22, so this week on the Green Life, we'll explore some of the ways to celebrate the harvest season.

Tip #1: Go to the Source

Get a good dose of colorful leaves and crisp air by making a trip to the countryside. Autumn is a great time to bring kids to local farms so that they can learn about their food's origin and participate in seasonal activities such as hay rides and corn mazes. Consult Local Harvest's farm database to find special events or places where your family can pick pumpkins or apples.

Tip #2: Eat Rare Varieties

Tip #3: Consider Canning

Tip #4: Show Off Your Favorite Market

Share your tips: What is your favorite seasonal family tradition?
