Rev Up Your Biofuel Engines
The world's first completely sustainable race car is gearing up for Britain’s Formula 3 race on Oct. 17.
Researchers at the University of Warwick created a car entirely made out of recycled materials that runs on biofuels, such as chocolate and animal fats, and is lubricated by plant oils. It’s fast, too, with an 0-to-60 time of 2.5 seconds, and a top speed of 135 mph.
There seems to be a trend toward greener races; even longtime environmental offender NASCAR has jump-started environmentally friendly races and is encouraging its fans to be green.
