Who's the Greenest of Them All?

Pageant Glittering tiaras, floor-length beaded gowns, bleached-white smiles, gobs of hair-styling products and makeup—a beauty pageant certainly doesn’t scream “eco-friendly minimalism.” But the contestants of the 2010 Miss America Pageant are exploring their green side with the "Green is Gorgeous” eco-contest hosted by Tamara Henry of the web TV portal GreenTwithTamara.TV.

Henry asked each of the 53 Miss America contestants what being green means to her and posted video clips of each contestant's response. Visit the interactive map to watch the interviews and vote for your favorite green Miss America hopeful. Henry will announce the winner during the pageant on Jan. 30.

A few tips from the leading contenders so far? Lindsey Graham, Miss New Hampshire, advocates using reusable grocery bags instead of plastic; Kristina Smaby, Miss Wisconsin, encourages you to unplug your cell phone and iPod chargers when not in use; and Liz Cochran, Miss Alabama, discusses her efforts to recycle aluminum cans on her college campus.
