Cap-and-Trade Fade: Obama announced Tuesday that the cap-and-trade approach to combating global warming -- that is, limiting emissions by letting companies trade pollution permits -- could be sliced out of the energy bill before it gets to the Senate. ENN

Far-East Winds: China became the biggest market in the world for wind turbines last year; new reports indicate that the amount of energy the nation generated from windmills increased from 12 gigawatts in 2008 to 25 gigawatts in 2009. USA Today

Heated Growth: A new study found that, because of climate change, forests in the Eastern U.S. are growing at their fastest rate in 225 years. UPI

Endangered EPA: The Center for Biological Diversity is suing the EPA for failing to evaluate and regulate nearly 400 pesticides that are harmful to endangered species and humans, and for not meeting deadlines to regulate soot and dust pollution. Society of Environmental Journalists

Green as Glass: Scientists in Turkey have created a nontoxic "spray-on liquid glass." Full details have yet to emerge, but it's said to be able to protect against damage from water, radiation, heat, dirt, and bacteria. Treehugger
