New Eco-Music Supergroup Launched

Green concert The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, the Monsters of Folk, and now, the Green Music Group? They may not be writing songs together just yet, but a wide array of musical artists from Willie Nelson to Linkin Park have joined together as members of a new green supergroup which will aim to raise environmental consciousness in the music community. And the Sierra Club is a proud partner.

Questlove of The Roots, Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band, and members of Maroon 5 and Guster celebrated the group's launch with a performance of John Lennon’s “Instant Karma (We All Shine On)" in Hollywood on Jan. 30.

Other founding members of the Green Music Group include Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, and the Barenaked Ladies, as well as record labels Brushfire Records and Warner Music Group. Created by Reverb, a nonprofit which works to green the music world, the group hopes to bring together fans and industry powerhouses to inspire eco-change in the music business.
