Green Your Spring Break: Try an Alternative Vacation

Alternative spring break Spring break is a great time to relax and let loose, but that doesn't mean you have to leave all your green habits behind. This week's tips will help you make your spring break more eco-friendly.

Tip # 1: Go Alternative

If you want to skip the bikinis and beer pong, eco-vacations let you  experience interesting places while doing something more productive. Many college campuses already offer alternative-break resources in place, and Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and i-to-i offer organized volunteer opportunities. To remain local, find trail-restoration projects through the Sierra Club or the American Hiking Society, or search for eco-volunteer options through Volunteer Match.

Tip # 2: Carbon-Neutral Travel

Tip # 3: Sustainable Lodging

Tip # 4: Eco-Friendly Beach Party

Tell us: Have you taken an eco-vacation that you'd like to recommend?
