Tips for Going Solar: Sell Your Excess Energy
Now that our clocks have sprung forward, we can look forward to seeing more sun. With that in mind, we'd like to point out that going solar at home is a movement that's gathering momentum nationwide. But before you invest in solar power for your house, learn the basics. This week's tips will get you started.
Tip #4: Opt for a Grid-Tied System
If you're considering solar panels for your home or office, keep in mind that the most reliable, economical, and common systems are grid-tied. Why? Well, say your solar panels produce more electricity than you need. The excess goes into a nearby utility grid — and your energy bill gets credited. By the same token, when you need extra electricity, grid-tied systems call on stored grid energy and your bill is adjusted accordingly.
