Fun Family Bike Choices
Now that the weather's starting to warm up, it's time to consider leaving the car at home and hopping on your bike. If you have kids, cycling together is a great way to get them thinking about how their transportation choices affect the environment. The really little ones may have trouble keeping up on a ride to the park or farmers' market, so consider investing in a way to tote them along on your own bike.
Companies like inStep and Aosom offer bike trailers big enough for a child or two plus some groceries. Certain models even convert from trailer to stroller.
Speaking of strollers (and converting), Taga, pictured above, is an innovative three-wheeled bicycle with a child seat; the whole apparatus easily transforms into a stroller. Check out this video to see it in action. Taga has been available in Europe for a couple of years, but will be released this month in the states. At nearly $1,500 it's pricey, but compensates with its multi-functionality. Plus, no gas required!
