Green Your City: Speak Up
Help the Sierra Club turn America green by taking your eco-habits to the streets. This week's tips are about how to green your town.
Tip #2: Participate in Local Government
While it's important to stay informed about global environmental news, local issues can have a greater effect on your life. Consider attending a city council meeting to find out what environmental issues, if any, are being discussed in your town. When a green initiative is on your city's ballot, campaign for its passage. If your concerns aren't being addressed, you can create a petition (Care2 walks you through an online option) to have your proposal voted on during the next election.
