Green Your Taxes: Decode What You're Owed

Green tax credits Thursday, April 15, is Tax Day, and we could all use a little help crunching those numbers. With that in mind, this week’s tips are about how to find out if you can make your payment a little smaller by having gone a little greener. 

Tip #2: Get Your Due Credit

Who has time to go wading through the Recovery Act’s 400 pages to figure out what qualifies for tax credits? Actually, the folks at GreenAndSave happened to, so they kindly distilled it to 11 relatively easy-to-scan pages for the rest of us. Click here to access their free tax-incentive decoder. You’ll learn what percentage of an eco-positive home-improvment expense, such as weatherization, is eligible for credits and rebates, and until when – many expire at the end of 2010.
