U.S. Ranking Slips as Climate Skepticism Grows
The 2010 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is out, and the U.S. has slid to number 61 out of 163 ranked countries. Last year, we were number 39.
Some experts say there's a correlation between the drop in our ranking and the growing number of American climate skeptics.
The ranking is done by awarding each nation points based on 10 categories in two groups: Ecosystem Vitality and Environmental Health. The U.S. earned 63.5 out of 100 points, while the number-one ranked nation, Iceland, scored 93.5.
