Words of Power: During Obama’s first Oval Office address, he emphasized that BP will pay for the havoc it has wrought, that government will reform how it monitors fossil-fuel industries, and that Americans should do all they can to shun oil use. Dot Earth (NYT)

Pricing Disaster: BP has agreed to deposit $20 billion into an account to pay claims of damage caused by the company’s oil catastrophe. By late June, $84 million of it is expected to be disbursed; costs associated with the spewing oil have already surpassed $1 billion. Greenwire
