Father's Day Special: International Surfing Day is This Sunday

This Sunday, grab Dad and head to a beach near you to celebrate the sixth annual International Surfing Day. The event's founders, the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing magazine, have a simple goal: to raise awareness about protecting beaches by cleaning them, then riding the perfect wave.

Whether you’re Kelly Slater or a foam-board newbie, the day will have something for everyone, including prizes from Vans, Spy, and DVS for the most environmentally conscious and creative winners of these challenges.

Last year, during Rip Curl's “Search but Don’t Destroy” contest, surfers converted a diesel Ford F-250 truck to run on vegetable oil for eco-friendlier wave-searching.This year, you can try to win “Most Alternative Material Ridden on a Wave” or “Best Trash Skateboard."
