Instead of tossing your old jeans, consider bringing them to a
Volcom retailer near you to help clothe someone in need. This fall the California skate-and-surf company is teaming up with the
National Coalition for the Homeless for their annual “Give Jeans a Chance” campaign, collecting used jeans and redistributing them to homeless people nationwide. Each year Americans throw away
2 quadrillion pounds of clothing, so recycling used jeans won't only help keep someone warm this winter, it'll also keep landfills emptier.
Volcom aims to double last year’s collection count of 5,000 by setting up denim-recycling bins in more than 300 stores from Aug. 1 until Sept. 30. As an added incentive, Volcom will reward anyone that donates – the grand prize being a year's supply of Volcom jeans and a $1,000 goodie bag.
