Green Your Yoga: Forgo Bottled Water
With its emphasis on living mindfully, yoga teaches us to tread lightly on Mother Earth. This week's tips explore how yogis can get more out of their practice by minimizing their environmental footprints.
Tip #3: Forgo Bottled Water
Before grabbing bottled water after practice, consider that the bottled-water industry produces 1.5 million tons of plastic waste each year. Instead, refill a reusable, BPA-free container, and encourage your yoga classmates to do the same. If your gym or studio sells bottled water, suggest to its managers a switch to tap water — the shift likely won't compromise health or flavor, considering that a third of bottled water sold in the U.S. comes from municipal sources.
