Bag Ban: Parts of Los Angeles County imposed a 10 cent fee for paper bags and made plastic bags off-limits to 1.1 million people. TreeHugger

Another Ban: Pittsburgh became America's first city to ban corporations from drilling for natural gas within city limits. Huffington Post

Earth as Art: The U.S. Geological Survey released a collection of incredible satellite images from space. Wired

Yellow Page Flips Out: The Yellow Pages publishers sued Seattle for enacting a law that lets people opt out of receiving the paper address book. The publishers say the law violates the freedom of speech, privacy rights, and interstate commerce. TreeHugger

Local Action: Regional and state governments determined to curb climate change at the local level met at a "subnational summit" in California, where voters recently rejected a ballot to suspend the state's climate-change law. Reuters
