Plastic State of Mind: Parody With Purpose
Skip the bag, the cup and spork, dude, urges Plastic State of Mind, a new parody of the Jay-Z/Alicia Keys classic. The catchy rap unabashadly blames consumers for environmental degradation (BP’s oil spill, almost like we did it) and dares viewers to take personal action (Tell your representatives, ban single-use bags made from . . . Plaa-aa-stic!).
Green Sangha, a Californian spiritual and activist group, released the video just a day after parts of Los Angeles County banned plastic bags. Worldwide, though, plastic-bag consumption is still rising. Shoppers use up to a trillion each year (We use 1 million grocery bags every single minute). The bags never biodegrade and are made of petroleum (Fossil product all your crap’s made of).
That’s why you should Bring your own, don’t you forget, dude!
