Green Your Garden: Make a Plan
This week’s tips are about how to cultivate a sustainable garden; the goal is to keep you seeing green through the end of summer.
Tip #1: Make a plan.
Planning a garden can be tricky, particularly if your space is limited. Try increasing your per-square-foot yield by planting efficiently. The “three sisters” scheme, based on Native American tradition, plants corn, squash, and beans together so that the trio has better growing structure. Also, choose plants that attract pollinators to help the birds and the bees, many of which are in serious decline.
Tip #2: Water wisely.
Tip #3: Get into worm poop.
Tip #4: Share the wealth.
