When Localists Connect
Environmentalism and localization go hand in hand for good reason. When it comes to food sources, commuting, and resource use, local's usually better.
A new website, launched this week, is making that pairing even firmer by serving as an online nexus of sustainable projects. GreenTowns.com (part of AmericanTowns.com) connects local activists with other citizens who want to get involved in eco-causes. It also lets organizers promote community events.
The site features a host of creative initiatives, from green-demolition resources to gas-free lawn care, and lists the U.S. towns that are making these pushes a reality. People can also search by ZIP code to find projects close to where they live.
