Green Sleuthing: Examine the Power Companies

Greenwashed Gas Greenwashing is a form of marketing that undermines companies that are doing genuinely green work. This week's tips are about how to spot the deception and go instead for the real thing.

Tip #4: Question the green energy campaigns.

Gas-guzzlers and oil providers tout eco-claims with little to back them up. Case in point: Ten years before its most recent oil spill, BP claimed to be green. Use your knowledge of PR tricks to see through the greenwashing campaigns of ChevronAmerican Electric Power, and GM. When deciding which companies to support, dig for hard facts — like the percentage of renewable energy a corporation uses.
