Build Your Own Compost Tumbler, from Recycled Materials
Cuba has been growing 70% of its vegetables in organic urban gardens for over 20 years. Detroit is just starting its own agricultural revolution in abandoned lots. Community gardens, backyard greenhouses, and patio potato-pots are cropping up from San Francisco to New York, and it's time for us all to jump on the bandwagon.
Here is a great video to help you get started on a backyard farm; make your own compost tumbler, from recycled materials, then learn how to use it. This is not a small undertaking. The project involves power tools, two-by-fours, and muscle grease, but shouldn't take more than a day, especially if you rally your neighboors and work together.
