Green Projects for 2012: Make a Recycled Journal

Handmade notebookHarness the new year's momentum to transform your tired old stuff into fresh new creations. This week, we're providing ideas for craft projects to invigorate your 2012.

Tip #1: Make a notebook from recycled paper.

Gather up the used wrapping paper, sort through your junk mail, and examine the office recycling bin to find a stash of paper for a homemade journal. Calendar pages make great covers, and greeting cards can be repurposed this way too. Handy with a needle and awl? Try sewing a stab-stiched book. If staples are more your speed, here are instructions for making a recycled notebook.

Tip #2: Turn tees into a quilt.

Tip #3: Revive soap and candles.

Tip #4: Make credit-card bling.

Share your tips: How do you reuse your old stuff?
