I hope everyone tries and make some small changes in their life, change begings at a personal level... personally I used to have 5 screens for web development and two PCs and a laptop... I switched over to one Mac laptop and one mac Mini pc at home and just 1 screen.. my energy bill for our condo went from $120/m to $55...

We also switched our lightbulbs at the same time to energy saving ones... I was amaized at how much difference that made...it really shows you can make a difference and that's just doing two things...

Cool place to find more green tips, anyone else know of any good places to find tips?

What is the deal with the energy saving flourescent light bulbs? I have heard that they contain mercury and have to be thrown out in another place besides the trash. There isn't much information about this. I am concerned that in our rush to green things up, we are not looking at all the elements of the design. Sure it takes less energy to run those bulbs, and they are supposed to last longer, but since there is mercury and most people toss them in the trash, it seems like a bad trade off.???
Am I not seeing the big picture?

The amount of mercury in a CFL is orders of magnitude smaller than
the mercury used to burn the coal to power an old fashioned light
bulb.

You do more to reduce mercury in the environment by switching
to CFL's than continuing to use the old fashioned bulbs.
