And The Nomination Goes To…
If a Tree Falls — A Story of the Earth Liberation Front, the much-lauded documentary about the extreme environmental group that made its mark with a series of arson fires starting in the mid-1990s, is a finalist for Best Documentary (Feature) in this year’s Oscar awards. The film was universally received as an unflinching look at an incendiary topic -- in the words of the New York Times’ Andrew Revkin, a “fearless exploration of complexity in a world drawn to oversimplified depictions of events and problems, heroes and villains.” You can read reviews of the film here, here, and here, and Revkin's interview with director Marshall Curry here.
