On this last day of Rio+20, with many of us feeling disillusioned and powerless, I wanted to share a passage I find very inspiring. The passage comes from Paul Hawken's book Blessed Unrest, a work that describes the growing "movement of movements" that encompasses all of our efforts to ensure sustainability, fight for social justice, uphold human rights, and cultivate peace. I hope this passage can help to reinvigorate our spirits and remind us that we are never alone in our struggles.
Rio+20 is indeed disappointing, but our movement will continue long after this conference concludes. I have been so inspired by hearing your stories, and I truly believe the friendships we formed over the past two weeks will breathe new life into our social change efforts. I am honored and humbled to continue working with all of you to create a better world.
