And the 2008 eco-hero of the year is...

Compass (and Sierra Club)'s own Bruce Nilles!

That's right, Move Beyond Coal Campaign director Bruce Nilles has just been declared Grist's 2008 Eco-Hero of the year, beating out established names such as Barack Obama, Michael Pollan, T. Boone Pickens, and (in the biggest upset, IMHO) Miley Cyrus.

He didn't do it alone, though, but with the help of thousands of Grassroots activists all across the country who fight everyday to stop dirty coal and move America forward to a clean energy future.

Congratulations Bruce!
