Harnessing Youthful Energy

Power_shift Young people are some of the most passionate supporters of meaningful climate legislation. Which makes sense, since they are the ones who will be most affected by a climate catastrophe. So as the debate over the Clean Energy Act heats up this fall, youth will be pushing for a strong bill that reduces carbon dioxide emissions and creates new clean-energy jobs.

You'll see signs of this movement throughout the country. Power Shift ’09 is leading 11 regional summits this month to gather support and show the power of young people – the same ones who helped bring Obama into office in 2008. And on October 24, thousands of people will be gathering in the U.S. and around the world for the International Day of Climate Action to demand that worldwide carbon levels be brought to less than 350 parts per million.

And if you get your application in by October 7 (that's Wednesday!), you just might be one of the Sierra Student Coalition’s representatives at the Copenhagen talks this December!
