Green Your Taxes: Ask for Information
Thursday, April 15 is Tax Day, and we could all use a little help crunching those numbers. With that in mind, this week’s tips are about how to find out if you can make your payment a little smaller by having gone a little greener.
Tip #1: Get Educated
When meeting with your accountant this week, ask him or her to give you information about 2010 federal and state energy tax credits that you could get for making more environmentally responsible purchases. Suggest, too that they include this information in their tax-preparation packets, put it on their websites, and make it available in their offices. Installing solar panels, for example, or buying eco-appliances could become easier decisions if you know the tax incentives.
Tip #2: Get Your Due Credit
Tip #3: Plan an Upgrade
Tip #4: Make Donations
