Saturday is Give Your Stuff Away Day
Your house is probably full of items you don't use anymore but don't want to throw in the trash. Meanwhile, people are out buying the same types of objects that are languishing in your closets and garage, creating waste and perpetuating consumerism.
No more, though, if Mike Morone has anything to do with it. He created Give Your Stuff Away Day, the first of which takes place this Saturday, May 15.
You're invited to place unwanted items like furniture, electronics, appliances, and sporting goods (find the full list here) on your curb, allowing others to look through the pile for things they need. Then take a walk around the block to see if you could use any of the stuff your neighbors are giving away.
Morone suggests you start putting items out as early as Friday evening and leave them there as long as possible so more folks have the opportunity to snag your excess stuff. Just make sure you're in compliance with local ordinances.
