Shark Myths Quiz: Cold-Blooded Killers?

Shark week sharkIt's shark season, which means Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week is almost here. Before the week of razor teeth and ominous fins begins, take our quiz to see if you know your shark facts from fiction. (Hint: Don't believe everything you saw in Jaws.)

Shark Myths Quiz:

1.) All sharks are cold-blooded. True or False?

False! While most sharks are cold-blooded, there are five species of shark that are warm-blooded, just like us! Warm-blooded sharks can contract their muscles up to three times faster and with much more strength than cold-blooded ones, making them even greater predators. It's not much of a surprise then that the great white shark joins the shortfin mako shark and salmon shark, also top predators, in the family Lamnidae, or mackerel warm-bodied sharks.

2.) Sharks have no predators and are at the top of the ocean food chain. True or False?

3.) Sharks have more than five senses. True or False

4.) The bigger the shark, the bigger their prey. True or False?
